THE CHURCH
India Christian Mission Church – A Legacy of Faith and Service
The India Christian Mission Church (ICM Church) is a spirit-filled, indigenous, and autonomous Church, established in 1897 by the late lamented Rev. Arthur Stephen Paynter, a devoted servant of God from Bicester, Oxfordshire, a parish of the Church of England. Rooted in faith and built on the foundation of Christ, the ICM Church continues its sacred mission of evangelism, service, and spiritual transformation.
Our Ecclesiastical Identity
The ICM Church-at-Large upholds a balanced and spiritually enriching structure:
-
Structurally Episcopal – Guided by apostolic leadership through an episcopal framework.
-
Practically Liturgical – Honoring sacred traditions through reverent and meaningful worship.
-
Spiritually Evangelical – Committed to spreading the Gospel and leading souls to Christ.
Our Core Doctrinal Beliefs
We hold firmly to the historic Christian faith, standing on the unshakable truth of God’s Word:
-
We reverently profess the Nicene Creed and Apostles' Creed as foundational affirmations of our faith.
-
We uphold the 39 Articles of Religion and follow the Book of Common Prayer in worship and doctrine.
-
We believe in the Holy Bible—both Old and New Testaments—as the authoritative, infallible, and divinely inspired Word of God, essential for salvation and spiritual guidance.
Our Threefold Ministry
The ICM Church continues to serve through a biblically ordained threefold ministry:
-
Deacons – Called to serve in humility and compassion.
-
Priests – Shepherding the flock through word and sacrament.
-
Bishops – Providing spiritual oversight and apostolic leadership.
Our Mission and Outreach
Guided by Christ’s Great Commission, the ICM Church remains dedicated to:
-
Church Planting – Expanding God’s kingdom, with a special focus on rural and tribal evangelism.
-
Rural Child Education – Nurturing young minds with both spiritual and academic knowledge.
-
Medical Missions – Offering healing and healthcare to those in need.
-
Social Transformation Projects – Serving communities through acts of love, justice, and mercy.
